Introduction - Andrew Kessler, MD

Recommended Posts

Hello to all!

I am a psychiatrist who has been in practice 30 years. I was recently offered a job at a Medication Assisted Treatment Center. Two years ago I worked in a similar setting for 6 months. I enjoyed the work. The issues one has to deal with a particular patient are more circumscribed than in general psychiatry.

The intricacies of working medications such as a methadone and buprenorphine are challenging. The use of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids has added new layers of complexity to treating a population of people who are in need of good medical care.
